And a Good Time was had by ALL

What a wonderful quiet day. Woke up this morning and after a quick shower, short walk for the dog and a bit of confusion when I fired up the computer discovered that the phone, internet and cable was out. Seems that a young lad attempting to go from point A to point B while very drunk wiped out about half of our town's service with what's left of his fathers new Ram pickup truck. He took the ground mounted box with the amplifier and switching box completely off it's concrete pad at about 0445 this AM

The kid was lucky and didn't sustain any serious injuries, but probably totaled the truck. The Spectrum stuff he destroyed took all day to repair. They not only had to replace the amp box and switching panels but when he knocked the whole assembly off it's foundation it also severed the fiber optic cable. Wait 'till they get the bill for the mess.

I have to admit I really enjoyed the day. Went to the store and got the Sunday newspaper, hadn't read a newspaper in years, and some apple strudel for breakfast. We fired up the stereo, listened to a few CD's and took a nice long walk. No "news", COVID discussions from so called experts and no robo calls from politicians begging for money. Managed to fly a few flights and just entered the manual PIREPS. What a great flashback to a simpler and quieter time.

Hey Larry,

Heck, no internet, no phone and no cable was refreshing. Didn't cost me a penny and made me realize that other than being a little inconvenient it was rather relaxing. The bill I referred to wasn't coming to me but to the young man that was driving drunk and probably his family. In our state fighting a DUI can cost upwards of $10K. Spectrum and/or the owner of the equipment destroyed will send a pretty handsome bill to them.

Been there, done that with the TVs and A/C. Central Florida is considered the lightening capital of the South. I've spent a fortune on surge protectors and still have lost equipment.

l realize that it`s going to cost to other guy not you. But my problem was that, all my things that broke down were well used and old. So, the old adage that things don`t last forever is true. BTW, l do have a surge protector on my whole electrical system.
l hope my surge protector works better than your did.

Larry
